Electric vehicle charger comparison

Electric vehicle charger comparison

Standard-installation prices, from €1,600 to €2,000 depending on the model (VAT included, up to 5 m of power line, as of October 2026). The median of our installations is about 25 m of line, so the usual price is higher. With 25 m of line, the Woltio Pro comes to around €1,770. The real differences between the five are in the controls, load balancing, solar charging and the unit warranty, which each manufacturer provides. Choosing a charger is easier than it looks once you know what to check. Here we compare the five units we install: Woltio Pro, Policharger NW, V2C Trydan, Wallbox Pulsar Max and Tesla Wall Connector. All of them charge any electric car with a Type 2 connector, so power is not what to look at.

Mind which price you are looking at

There are two prices and they do not mean the same thing. One is the list price of the unit on its own, as published by the manufacturer: the box and little else, with no cabling, no protective devices, no labour and no registration. The other is what it costs to leave the charging point working in your parking space.

We give both in each section where we have them. The list price is indicative, for the unit alone and as the manufacturer published it in 2024. Next to it is the installed price shown today on its page, with unit, materials, protections, works, commissioning and certification included in the Madrid region, for a standard installation. The installed prices are "from" prices, VAT included and up to 5 m of power line, as of October 2026; the list prices are those each manufacturer published in 2024 and may have changed. What the standard installation includes and what makes it cost more, in how much it costs to install a charging point.

The cheapest unit to buy is not necessarily the cheapest to install. All the chargers and their specs are in the charger range.

Policharger NW

The comparison at a glance

All five, side by side. The data is in this order: power, connectors, control, dynamic load balancing, solar charging and installed price. Power decides nothing, because all five take 7.4 kW single-phase and 22 kW three-phase. What decides is the rest.

V2C Trydan: installed price

The V2C Trydan costs from €1,680 (VAT included) with up to 5 m of power line in Madrid, with the charger, protections, labour, commissioning and certification, for a standard installation as of October 2026. The unit alone, without installation, had an indicative list price of €646.60 (manufacturer, 2024): the rest of the amount is installation. What moves the final figure most is the distance between the parking space and the electrical panel. We go into detail in the V2C Trydan page and in how much it costs to install a charging point.

Policharger NW or V2C Trydan

  • Installed price (VAT included, up to 5 m of line): the Policharger NW, from €1,630; the V2C Trydan, from €1,680.
  • Controls: the Policharger has no app and is activated with a physical key; the V2C Trydan has an app and speaks OCPP 1.6 with management platforms.
  • Dynamic load balancing: both have it.
  • Solar charging: the V2C Trydan charges from photovoltaic surplus; on the Policharger NW it is optional.
  • When to choose each: the Policharger, if there are two cars and one space (it has a dual version) or if you do not want to depend on your phone; the V2C Trydan, if the charger has to integrate with other systems or you have solar panels.

Woltio Pro or V2C Trydan

  • Installed price (VAT included, up to 5 m of line): the Woltio Pro, from €1,600; the V2C Trydan, from €1,680.
  • Dynamic load balancing: the Woltio Pro comes with the measuring sensor included in the price.
  • Solar charging: both charge from photovoltaic surplus.
  • Controls: the Woltio Pro has a Bluetooth app and a 2.8-inch colour screen; the V2C Trydan has a mobile app and OCPP 1.6.
  • Casing: steel on the Woltio Pro, polycarbonate on the V2C Trydan.
  • When to choose each: the Woltio Pro, if you want to see the charge without taking out your phone (it also resets itself if a protection trips); the V2C Trydan, if you need OCPP.

Wallbox Pulsar Max: installed price

The Wallbox Pulsar Max costs from €2,000 (VAT included) with up to 5 m of power line in the Madrid region, with the standard installation as of October 2026. It is the most compact in the catalogue (198 × 201 × 99 mm without the cable) and has a 5 m cable, with 7 m optional. Dynamic load management is optional, with an external meter. More details in the Wallbox Pulsar Max page.

Which one to choose

If you want the most complete unit as standard, the Woltio Pro: dynamic balancing with the sensor included, solar charging and its own screen. If you have panels and want to charge from the surplus, the V2C Trydan and the Woltio Pro are the most direct.

If you would rather not depend on your phone, the Policharger NW unlocks with a key and that is it, and it is the only one with a dual version for two cars in one space. If you want a compact, robust unit for outdoors, the Wallbox Pulsar Max. And if you want the most refined finish and the longest cable, the Tesla Wall Connector.

For a shared garage the conversation is different: what matters there is being able to measure each user's consumption and split the cost, which is why we usually go for the V2C Trydan. We cover it in more detail in installations in residents' associations.

Before deciding, have a look as well at the grants currently available for installing a charging point ES, because the income tax deduction is worked out on the amount of the installation and changes the final cost. And if you want to run the numbers, in our calculators you can compare the running cost of an electric car against a combustion one and estimate the charging time for your model.
